Etiquette of the company of two who are similar in age and knowledge

Listen carefully to how our Master, Rasulullah صلي الله عليه و سلم taught the youth the etiquettes of keeping company and gatherings, and consideration to the elders over youngsters. The illustrious companion, Malik bin Al Huwayrith رضي الله عنه, said:

We came to Rasulullah صلي الله عليه و سلم and we were youth of similar age. We spent twenty nights with him. Rasulullah صلي الله عليه و سلم was so merciful and kind, he thought that perhaps we were yearning for our families. He therefore asked whom we had left behind from our families. We informed him and he said

Return to your families and stay amongst them. Teach them and command them. When (the time for) Salaah arrives then one of you should proclaim the call to prayer, and the eldest should lead you in Salaah.
